Many people aren’t exactly thrilled with Kim Kardashian and Kanye West’s latest antics. The couple recently took a lengthy private flight on a 660-capacity plane, and folks are calling it “obnoxious and unnecessary.”
Considering it appears to have been just a handful of people including Kim, Kanye, and their trainer, it is kind of a waste.
Kim’s Tour of the Plane
“No big deal, just taking a private 747, this is how he does it now – only 747s, private. I’ve never even heard of this, but whatever,” Kim says in her Instagram Stories. It is, perhaps, worth noting that Air Force One is also a 747.
“So this is what a private 747 is like, you guys,” she says in her video. “I’ve never been on one before so I’m like ‘Oh my god!’”
The video tour of the “endless” plane showed rows of empty seats, bedrooms, marble-accented bathrooms, a dining area, and more.
Kim mentioned repeatedly in her video of the grandiose accommodations that it was, of course, “no big deal.” However, it’s clear even she was taken aback at the extravagance of the situation.
Exorbitant Price Tag
While Kim and Kanye are no strangers to flying on private jets, this isn’t just some ordinary private plane. Taking a private 747 is an absolutely next level move, with a mind-boggling cost to boot.
If you’re wondering what such a flight might cost, it’s a lot. As the plane Kim and Kanye traveled on is privately owned, the exact amount isn’t publicly available. However, estimates for the operating costs are around at least $200,000 an hour for a plane of that size.
The videos posted implied that it was a long-haul flight and that they intended to sleep for 10 hours. In other words, the one-way flight likely cost over $2 million.
Response on Social Media
Twitter users slammed the couple for their superfluous expense and grossly unnecessary ecological impact of the flight. Many also pointed out that the pair recently had their house threatened by wildfires exacerbated by climate change.
However, it doesn’t seem Kim and Kanye are fazed by their unconscionably excessive carbon footprint. Never mind what potentially generous things the couple could have done with the millions likely spent on this flight either.
