Selena Gomez has been hospitalized twice recently, and her latest stay landed her in a mental health facility for treatment.
According to sources who spoke with TMZ, Gomez was first hospitalized in late September when her white blood cell count dropped to an alarming degree. She was driven from her Studio City, CA, home to Cedars-Senai Medical Center in LA since the drop happened in the wake of her kidney transplant. Reports say that she was released a few days later.
Late last week, Gomez was re-admitted to Ceders-Senai because of low white blood cell count was not improving. Gomez, who was probably exhausted from feeling ill, wanted to be taken home but doctors insisted that she stay.
This triggered an emotional breakdown at the hospital, where Selena had “a meltdown” and “freaked out.” She reportedly tried tripping the IVs out of her arm.
This landed the singer in an East Coast psychiatric facility where she is recovering and receiving DBT – dialectical behavior therapy – which is used to treat various forms of mental health disorders. The star has reportedly received DBT in the past.
Previous Rehab & Justin Bieber
Gomez, 26-years-old, has also spent time in rehab for alcohol, pot and prescription Ambien abuse. At the time, reports said that Selena blamed her ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber for her exposure to drugs and alcohol. She spent two weeks at The Meadows in Arizona.
Gomez was the target of trolls and hateful comments on social media after Bieber got engaged to Hailey Baldwin. She ended up leaving social media altogether after the incident.
Last year, Gomez received a new kidney from one of her best friends, Francia Raisa. She needed the new kidney due to a health condition known as Lupus, which is an inflammatory disease which causes the immune system to attack its own tissues.
