If you’re considering getting a tattoo, you might want to think twice. We’re about to show you a whole bunch of tattoos that didn’t age well. And no, it’s not because we’re trying to talk you out of it (unless it’s a finger or lip tattoo). We just want you to put careful consideration into certain aspects of your design. Not all tattoos turn out like these – in fact, plenty of well done tattoos don’t.
There are a few factors that definitely matter when it comes to how well a tattoo will weather the years. The size, location, use of black outlines, and, most importantly, aftercare all have significant effects. So, if you want your tattoo to last, here are some good examples of what not to do.
Without further ado, here are twenty tattoos that clearly just did not age well.
20. This Woman’s Faded Foot Tattoos
At least Daily Mail Writer Imogen Edwards-Jones is honest about her three “regrets.” Pictured here are two of the designs she got during her “tattoo phase” in the 80s. The swallow came first, then later “the most appalling daisy.” She describes it as being “like a meandering weed, from the gap between the last two stubby little toes.” Oh, but it gets worse…
19. A Bruise-Like Butterfly
Imogen’s third regret was this bikini line tattoo. Not much of the butterfly it may have once been, now it just looks like some sort of weird bruise. Yikes.
