18. It’s Easy to Get Lost or Disoriented

Jacob’s Well, in Texas, has a reputation of being a very dangerous place to go scuba diving. Although it is beautiful and alluring, at least eight divers have lost their lives exploring the well.

You see, the underwater cave is full of dead ends and false chambers that look like exits. The fine silt that coats the cave can be easily stirred and will blind a diver.

Richard Patton, a Southwest Texas State University student, died while exploring chambers in the cave. He thought it found an exit and ended up getting stuck.
